What we collect
Emails you send us. If you email us, we receive your email address, name if given, and the content of your message. The message builder on our contact page runs entirely in your browser; nothing you type there is sent to us unless you choose to email it.
Server logs. Our hosting provider records standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, time) for security and to keep the site running. We do not use these to identify individuals.
We do not run advertising trackers or sell personal data.
Why and on what basis
We process emails to reply to you, on the basis of our legitimate interest in responding to readers. We process server logs for security, on the basis of legitimate interest.
How long we keep it
Emails are deleted within 24 months of our last exchange unless they relate to a correction we published. Server logs are kept for no longer than 30 days by our host.
Sharing
We share data only with our hosting and email providers, who process it on our behalf, or where required by law.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to processing, or restrict it. Email us to do so. You may also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
